Mattel's New Monster High Dolls Taking Over America?

As many of you may have recently noticed, Mattel's new line of dolls called Monster High has gone viral. It has been shown on the news and all over YouTube as well with a huge premiere on Friday the 13th in August 2010.
One of the reasons it has gone so viral is because of the marketing and design behind these dolls; as you can tell, these aren't your typical barbie dolls. Monster High dolls are a departure from the feminine girls in previous toy lines and arrive at being like a Halloween version of these dolls.
Where did this new trend come from? There have been numerous recent influences on teens and youth from the media that seem to have started this grotesque trend. Lady Gaga is a singer who transformed the music industry with her unorthodox and abnormal dressing which may have lead way to these abnormal dolls. It is now okay to dress different as society and trends once again shift.
Mattel isn't just stopping at dolls, however; the company plans to create a whole franchise. This includes a Monster High book, movie, and TV series. Will this hot new brand surge in popularity or is it going to quietly fade away without notice? You can never predict what will happen, but my bet is that this brand will do amazingly because society is already headed in the direction of this brand.
The characters of Monster High have a sharp contrast compared to Barbie and Ken. There are six main characters to be released initially which include: Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Cleo De Nile, and Deuce Gordon.
